Tea Kassel

TEA-KASSEL LA LEONESA is created using the youngest leaves from the tea shrub (Camellia sinensis) cultivated in Ceylon (Sri Lanka). It is a caffeinated beverage with mild diuretic properties, that stimulates kidney and liver function and help the body eliminate toxins. TEA-KASSEL may be enjoyed hot or cold, and sweetened to taste.

How does black tea work?

Tea contains xanthines, caffeine (1-5%), theobromine, tannins including polyphenols, flavinoides, fats, and vitamin C. Due to its astringent properties, tea is useful for digestive complaints, tightening up the mucous membranes and gut and reduces looseness. In Ayurvedic medicine it is considered an astringent and nerve tonic.

How much should I use?

Once you try out Tea Kassel, you will never go back to the basic English breakfast tea. This tea is exceptional and can be enjoyed throughout the day.

History and Folklore

The tea shrub has been cultivated principally in India, Sri Lanka, and China since the earliest times in human history. Black tea is the most common tea served around the world. The finest are distinguished by extensive hand processing to achieve the full fermentation (oxidation) that is crucial to the transformation of the leaves into an exceptional black. The leaves are first spread out on bamboo for several hours in the shade to whither. Then, they are hand rolled against the bamboo trays as many as 300 to 400 times.

Tea Kassels exotic flavor will remind you of where it originated, in the Far East, where the breeze carries the sweet, spicy scent of almonds and cloves.

This laborious process is intended to bruise the leaves, breaking down the leaf membranes in order to release the enzymes that further accelerate the oxidation process. Because of this process and a longer fermentation period, black teas become far different chemically than greens or oolongs and thus the flavors, as well as the health benefits, differ considerably. Manasul Tea Kassel brings you the finest black tea you can buy in individual bags.
